Exit Devices

Exit Devices

Commonly known as crash bars, panic hardware, or simply exit devices, these essential components are designed to allow safe and efficient egress during emergencies—especially in commercial and public buildings.

At StorefrontHardware.com, we offer a range of exit devices built to meet modern life-safety codes, fire regulations, and aesthetic requirements. Here's a quick guide to the most common types we carry:

Rim Exit Devices

The most widely used type, rim exit devices are surface-mounted directly onto the door and latch into the frame or a center mullion. They’re ideal for single doors and offer straightforward installation, reliable operation, and compatibility with a variety of locking hardware.

Concealed Vertical Rod (CVR) Exit Devices

CVR devices are mounted inside the door, with locking rods concealed within the door’s interior. The rods engage at the top and bottom into the door frame. These are often specified by architects for projects where clean aesthetics are a priority, such as glass doors or high-end commercial entries.

Surface Vertical Rod (SVR) Exit Devices

SVR devices provide the same top-and-bottom locking action as CVRs, but with visible vertical rods mounted on the surface of the door. They are commonly used for double-door setups or when ease of access and serviceability are more important than hidden hardware.
